2018 Volkswagen Atlas Performance Specs
Ever since the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas was announced over the winter, there’s been a slow burn of intrigue that is just now reaching its fever pitch. Much of the excitement to this point — helped along by a certain “birds and bees” commercial — has centered around its interior versatility, and with good reason. But what about the performance specs of the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas? Can we look at that for just a moment?
2018 Volkswagen Atlas Engine Options
That’s right, folks; there are two options under the hood of the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas. First up is a standard 2.0L Turbo, which wears the familiar TSI badging. When using the suggested premium fuel, this engine achieves 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Fuel numbers are yet to be released, but we’ll pass those along as well as they become available. Also available for those who want even more muscle is a 3.6L V6 engine, which racks up 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Whichever engine a buyer selects, they’ll enjoy the smooth transitions of an 8-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic and Sport mode. 4MOTION with Active Mode Control is also available, helping the Atlas to bolster its do-it-all credibility.

2018 Volkswagen Atlas Towing Capacity
The question must be asked: yes, the performance figures are nice and all, but what happens when the rubber truly meets the road? The Atlas, when properly equipped with the V6 engine and a factory-installed trailer hitch, can tow up to 5,000 pounds, which means that it’s plenty capable of pulling a standard boat or trailer. Factor in the seating for seven inside, and it’s clear why the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is being touted as the next great vacation vehicle.
The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas will soon be available at EVS Volkswagen, located near Milwaukee in Menomonee Falls, WI. So what are you waiting for?! Reserve yours today!
